Monographs, edited volumes, peer-reviewed journals and book series in African Studies, Asian Studies, and related area studies disciplines — history, law, linguistics, literature and the arts, anthropology, and politics and society. We also publish work where area studies intersects with broader questions of governance, culture, and identity.

We do not publish medical or natural science works, with the exception of studies where the primary dimension is cultural or anthropological.

Authors retain copyright of their work. Galda Verlag receives a non-exclusive licence to publish, distribute, and archive the work in print and digital formats. A formal publishing agreement is provided upon acceptance.

Yes. All academic submissions are reviewed editorially and, where appropriate, by external subject specialists. Documentation confirming the review process can be provided for institutional purposes.

From accepted manuscript to published book, typically four to six months. We will give you a specific timeline at the point of acceptance.

Yes. All our titles are published in both print and PDF editions. Print copies are distributed to academic libraries internationally via G&L’s library supply network.

We primarily publish in English. Works in German or French are also welcome — please mention the language in your submission.

Absolutely. Our programme exists specifically to support scholarship from and about these regions. We actively encourage submissions from researchers at African and Asian universities and research institutions.
